Having fled from the huge wall to find my own happiness, I am no longer in a position to rebel against it. I realized that I was never a part of the hazy old world nor the spinning new one in the first place. And so I stare into the void.
Director statement
This work is based on my experience of moving from China to Japan, and explores the paradox of happiness and suffering. I think ultimately this work is political and universal, but at the same time very personal, or rather it’s trying to expound the connection between them.
Bio
Born in Shanxi, China, in 1997. In 2025, received a Master’s degree from the Department of Animation at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Film and New Media.
Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved.
Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
