Director statement : The story is loosely based on the memories of my father, youngest of 3 siblings, spending ages 7-11 in a large Tudor home in West Orange, New Jersey. He would watch The Honeymooners while observing his older siblings navigating pre-teen-hood. I wanted to portray these kids in parallel to the shows they watched on television. Working in both paper cutout stop-motion animation as well as live action naturally lends itself to this separation of the real world versus one on TV. In this film I also explore my own childhood, as one of three siblings myself.
Bio : I am a filmmaker from Massachusetts, currently based in Providence, RI and studying at Rhode Island School of Design. My films are multi-technical, using stop-motion, paper cutout, and hand-drawn animation combined with live-action elements. Through creating I look to recreate space through remembering, and create new stories from memories. I am very passionate about writing, music and performance alongside filmmaking.
Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved.
Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
