film and video art
SCH! by Helena Olsson | Sweden (2023)
The film shows three people, each emptying the dishwasher in an otherwise dark and empty room with only a spotlight on each person. In the film, the people focus on trying to move plates, glasses and cutlery as silently as possible in and out of the dishwasher. This creates a kind of humorous choreography of everyday chores with exaggerated movements to avoid making as little noise as possible.
Bio
In my practice, I work with everyday life and constantly come back to being interested in the eternal striving to constantly make your life better and a constant longing for something other than what is here and now. I am interested in utopias; the need for dreams and ideals and how it is portrayed in both individual persons and as part of a structure in the society. How the individual’s needs are often part of a larger structure. I work with performance, video and photography and sometimes mix authentic, documentary material with staged material as parts of new stories.

Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved. Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
