Made as part of a series exploring the kinds of complexities in various domains of the physical-natural world, through form, this film turns to the microscopic.
Systematic cellular structures lead to intricately patterned leaves, and diverse appendages from flagella to cilia, along with the properties of water at these scales, result in movements, some composed and assertive, some instinctive and ambiguous, all the while enigmatic and otherworldly.
The speed and polar coordinates of the microbes are mapped to the compounded frequencies and amplitudes of the synthesized sound.
Five leaves were scanned, reassembled, and overlaid, frame-wise, based on the transformed coordinates of the microbes from circular space to that of the leaves’ dimensions, resulting in apparent motion while retaining some of the glitchy artifacts from the process of assembly.

Bio : Shifting between photography and collage, Anish Dasari has made works that delve into systemic and visual aspects of nature, the impact of human interaction, and the approach various mediums of art can take towards it. This process evolved into the medium of film. His first film premiered at the Denver Underground Film Festival and a subsequent film was made as part of an art exhibit in Detroit. He continues to work on a series of films exploring the complexities of nature.
Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved.
Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
