Bio
María Castillo Herrero studied drama in Madrid (Escuela Cuarta Pared) and has developed her acting profession since 2002 in several theater companies such as Cia. Cuarta Pared, Yokikana Teatro, Dante Producciones, Educarte, Hilo Producciones, Compañía Alberto Pineda, and Teatro del Astillero, among others. Some of the plays in which she participated had great repercussions, such as TRILOGÍA DE LA JUVENTUD and MARCELO, UN EXTRAÑO FORASTERO (MAX PRIZE 2001). In the audiovisual field she worked in series such as AMAR EN TIEMPOS REVUELTOS, QUÉ VIDA MÁS TRISTE and DOCTOR MATEO as well as small roles in the feature films EL PRADO DE LAS ESTRELLAS, by Mario Camus; LA HERENCIA VALDEMAR by Jose Luis Alemán, or NO SOMOS NADIE by Jordi Mollá. In 2009 she returned to Cantabria and created her own theatrical and audiovisual production company (Estudio Clementine) together with director Patxi Gabella. She produces several documentaries and in 2022 she premiered her first audiovisual work as a director: LA HABITACIÓN DE ION. A short film supported by the Government of Cantabria and awarded at the ICOFF Fest as best short film eusko-araba, and as best documentary at the REC Festival and the Rani Durgavati international film fest. This short film also has six national and international selections. In this case, with LA REECONSTRUCCIÓN, the author, in addition to directing, is in charge of the script. She is currently in pre-production of her next project, also with her own script and direction.
Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved.
Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
