Letters made of ice form the word “time”
Slowly melting and fading away.
My video TIME is about the environmental crisis we are heading towards, but it offers multiple interpretations: it’s also the visualisation of time and transiency.
“It is obvious that art cannot teach anyone anything, since in four thousand years humanity has learnt nothing at all.”
― Andrei Tarkovsky
Director’s statement
I had this idea about making a film about slowly crumbling letters forming the word TIME in 3D already some years in my head. At first, I wanted to do it with computer programming, but that was too complicated for me.
Then at a certain moment I suddenly had the right ‘click’: I had to do it with melting ice and link it to the climate crisis. The process was quite time consuming, I had to do it several times over, because the light was not good or the letters didn’t fall into the right direction, and the melting and waiting costs also a lot of time and also freezing the letters in ice and making a mold.
But I loved the process and experiment.

Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved. Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
