Looking forward to a reunion weekend after many years apart, three sisters meet in their old family home. Little do they know that the intimate party will turn into a confrontation with their ancestors‘ shadows.
Dancing with those ghosts of the past reveals to the women just how many of the roles and behavior patterns, handed down from generations of their ancestors and despite their own emancipation, still influence their bodies‘ expressions and their actions.
Looking into the mirror of the present, the spirits realize their descendants‘ chance to free themselves from the corsets of societal constraints and expectations, in order to finish the laboriously paved road leading to an autonomous life for women.
Valiantly, the sisters release the shadows from the ancient walls, thus opening the doors to a new era.
Director’s statement
Dance is my cherished medium for sharing my experiences and wonderment. By translating non-verbal communication – mine as well as others’ – into movement, I strive to preserve the spark of body language, carry it forward, turn it into a flame, or follow it to its embers. As a dancer, I want to bring the same grace, wonder, and joy I experience in my daily observations to my audience, inviting them to see and enjoy my world in all its facets through my art form.

Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved. Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
