Statement (text by Pablo Gamba in ‘Los Experimentos’)
“Sulfur defamiliarizes the sentimentalism that typically characterizes children’s stories in mainstream cinema. However, it also leads us toward ecology through an unexpected path of experimentation. It is a stimulus to both feeling and thinking that contrasts with today’s films, where we find explicit instructions on what we are supposed to think. The storyline and the audiovisual rhythm of this film cast a love spell for life to triumph over death. Thus, it also stands against the science applied to extractivism that created the film’s hellish landscape, relying instead on cultural references, imagination, sensations, and the powers of cinema—which is scientific technology, but also magical art.”

Pebbles Underground is focused on showcasing and promoting experimental, avant-garde, underground, and no-to-low budget projects by artist-humans from all over the world. Absurd, uncanny, witty, humorous, slow-video – all are welcomed, and loved. Pebbles Underground is an independent project not funded by any government or corporation, and we intend to keep it that way. Main source of funding is personal donations from humans organizing the project, who are artists themselves, and the main drive of the project is formed by the energy and involvement of the organizers, and the public.
